He does not play fair. He uses everything to his advantage. He has a strategy. Who is he? He is the enemy and he really does not want you or me actively praying. He abhors the thought of us interceding on behalf of others. The question is “Are we letting him stop us?”
Let me sound the alarm that the enemy is on the prowl going throughout the world attempting to stop God’s intercessors from praying. Here are just a few of his tactics. Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed at work? Did it feel like you never had a moment to yourself last week? Were you able to pray at all during your workday or did one responsibility continually follow another? If so, the enemy may have stopped your prayers at work that week. He may have silenced the prayer you might have prayed with a co-worker in need because he kept you so occupied.
Are you running behind at home? Maybe, you cannot remember the last time you cleaned the whole house at once or even at all. Is your pantry looking a little bare because you have not had time to get to the store? Does it seem that traffic has been particularly heaving lately and requiring all your concentration to get from one place to another? The enemy may be stopping the prayers you normally pray while you do life and even drive from one place to another. Many of us are in constant prayers throughout the day…unless we become too busy to think!
If you are finding yourself so busy taking care of responsibilities and meeting the needs of the people you love and care for, that you have not had a moment to really stop and pray, the enemy may be silencing you without you even being aware of it!
While we can certainly pray “on the go” and I do quite frequently, when our prayer life has been “hacked”, it is important to stop. Say No to the enemy. Tell him, “You cannot have my prayer life!” Then, take some quite moments alone with God to pray. Notice I used the word, “take”. Yes, you will have to literally take those moments because the enemy is not about to give them to you.
When we do stop and take those moments and go to God in prayer, it is so life giving. We find peace restored in our soul. Your life may still be crazy, but your soul will not be. The Holy Spirit within you will begin to glow with the warmth of God’s love, and you will be reminded of the call God has placed upon your life to pray. If you are an intercessor, do not wait. Take those moments to pray today. I am.
